The Air Force said Tuesday it had detected trace amounts of organic gaseous chemicals at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana and Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota. The chemicals are known to cause health problems, but the Air Force’s environmental survey found that “a small number of samples detected volatile organic compounds,” as Military.com reported.
A spokesperson for Air Force Global Strike Command told Military.com the levels of chemicals found at the sites are below the threshold established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and that they “are not assessed to present any health hazard.”
