Community Helping Fort Eisenhower Recover from Helene

Fort Eisenhower, Georgia may remain closed to non-essential personnel until Friday as it recovers from Hurricane Helene, Military.com reported.

“We’re tangling with two challenges: power and water,” Maj. Gen. Ryan Janovic, the base commander, told Military.com Tuesday. “It’s going to take some time to recalibrate systems and quality of life and safety here.”

The base’s public affairs office said in a DVIDS photo gallery that “local municipalities, community partners and Army came together to support each other and the surrounding communities” after the storm.

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service sent a mobile field exchange, according to a press release.
