DOD announced Monday a round of grant funding to 21 historically Black colleges and universities and 49 minority-serving institutions, according to a press release and the list of awardees. The funds, totaling $50 million, are to help the institutions buy research and scientific equipment.
“Investing in the research and development capacity of our academic partners remains a top priority for the Department of Defense,” said Evelyn Kent, director of the DOD HBCU/MI Program and Outreach. “These awards help enrich the curricula offered to scholars pursuing science, technology, engineering and mathematics degrees and support the training of the next-generation workforce.”
