October 9, 2024

More than 5,000 Florida National Guard members have been mobilized as the state prepares for Hurricane Milton, expected to hit the Tampa area as a Category 5 hurricane today or tomorrow.

The Pentagon said additional forces will be ready if FEMA and state leaders ask for more help, as Military Times reported.

Army officials have sent personnel, vehicles and aircraft to Fort Moore, Georgia to help the region recover after the storm, which could be the biggest in a century, according to CNN.
