Program Reimburses Travel for Temporary Child Care Support

October 10, 2024

A new pilot program in several branches will reimburse travel costs if a family needs to bring a child care provider with them to a new duty station, as Military Times reported.

Members of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard are eligible for the program if they enrolled in care at the child development center at their new station but can’t get an immediate space because the center is full.

In that case, the military will pay up to $500 for a relative or another care provider to travel to and from a new duty station domestically or up to $1,500 for overseas travel.
