DOD Issues Plan to Implement Resilient and Healthy Defense Communities Strategy

November 26, 2024

The Pentagon now has a plan to implement the Resilient and Healthy Defense Communities Strategy announced earlier this year. The strategy and implementation plan address historic underinvestment in infrastructure, according to a press release.

One of the stated end goals of the implantation plan is to ensure “installations are integrated with surrounding communities, providing public sources and lifestyle-oriented features that build the readiness and resiliency of the total force,” Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks wrote in the implementation plan’s introduction.

The plan also calls for investing in local community partnerships to help create safe spaces for service members, military families and civilian DOD employees.
