Mass. Base Preps for F-35
Community members and Barnes Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts leaders recently cut the ribbon on its new Minutemen Gate, a major infrastructure update as the 104th Fighter Wing prepares to take on F-35 aircraft, according to a DVIDS story. The state funded the $6.7 million project.
“Massachusetts has a long, proud military tradition, and being the birthplace of the National Guard is part of our DNA,” Gov. Maura Healey (D) said. “The new gate brings us closer to welcoming the F-35A and strengthens security for this base and the entire community.”
Ohio Lawmakers Consider Banning Foreign Investment Near Bases
Proposed legislation in Ohio would ban foreign adversaries from buying property within 25 miles of the state’s military installations, as Cleveland.com reported.
“Should enemies of our country be permitted to purchase land next to Wright-Patterson (Air Force Base) or over here at Rickenbacker (Air National Guard Base)?” said state Sen. Terry Johnson. “Our land is currently up for grabs by those who want to cause us harm, endangering our national secrets and most important, putting American lives at risk.”
The state Senate passed the bill, and Johnson hopes the House will follow suit before the end of the year.
