President-Elect Donald Trump may look to members from the Armed Services committees to nominate as the next defense secretary, Politico reported Wednesday.
The article identifies three potential nominees: House Armed Services Committee member Mike Waltz (R-Fla.), Senate Armed Services Committee member Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
“The secretary of defense under Trump will need to spend time defending his mostly isolationist worldview against the national security establishment and the department’s 2 million-plus employees,” Politico wrote.
