Lawmakers signaled Monday that they were close to a deal on a stopgap spending bill to keep the government open when current spending expires Friday night.
The House could vote on the plan as early as Wednesday, but text of the bill had not been released by 10:30 p.m. Monday. Some of the final disagreements focused on aid for hurricane-damaged regions and farmers, as The Hill reported.
House Appropriations Committee Chair Tom Cole (R-Okla.) said the bill would extend current spending levels until March 14, which would be almost six months into the fiscal year and around the time the fiscal year 2026 budget process is likely to heat up.
