Hegseth Trying to Win Senate Support

Former Fox News host Pete Hegseth has spent the week meeting with Republican senators to try to get their support for his troubled nomination to become Defense secretary.

“I think most people do not expect Hegseth to make it,” a Republican senator told The Hill. “There’s seven or eight [Republican] votes against him. It’s a matter of time.”

Hegseth said he will “stay in the fight” as long as Trump wants him to, according to Politico. But there are reports that Trump is looking at other candidates, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).
