Airmen, Aircraft Moving from South Dakota to North Dakota

About 800 airmen and 17 B-1B Lancers have started moving from Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota to Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota. They’ll be there for about 10 months while Ellsworth constructs a new runway for the forthcoming B-21 Raider bomber.

South Carolina Guard Develops History Program for Schools

In collaboration with South Carolina ETV and Public Radio, the South Carolina State Guard has begun to develop educational material about its history dating back to its 1670 founding. According to The Post and Courier, the content will be a part of SCETV’s Know It All website, which regularly hosts educational content for teachers. “We are highly excited to expand the knowledge of our students and community concerning the rich heritage of our state, its stories and heroes, and our place in this great nation’s birth,” said South Carolina State Guard Commanding General Major General Leon Lott.

Report Recommends Ending Florida Program to Protect Land Near Bases

A recent report from the research arm of the Florida legislature recommended ending a program that helps purchase buffer land around the state’s military installations, The Center Square reported. The Military Base Protection Plan began in 2012, but researchers found only one parcel of land of about eight acres and two easements have been purchased through it. The report also said the program is duplicated by several other state initiatives.
