Maxwell AFB Works with Uber to Provide Rides

Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama recently signed an agreement with Uber to allow pre-screened drivers to service people living at both the main base and Gunter Annex. “We are thrilled to partner with this ride-hailing service to bring convenience and innovative services to our base community,” said Col. Shamekia Toliver, 42d Air Base Wing commander. Officials hope to announce similar programs with more ridesharing and delivery companies in the future, according to the Maxwell Air Force Base article.

Army Land Designated as National Monument Recognizing Indian Boarding Schools

President Joe Biden recently signed a proclamation that creates the Carlisle Federal Indian Boarding School National Monument located at Army Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, also home to the Army War College, the Department of the Interior announced in a press release. The new 24.5-acre monument will be created at the site of the former Carlisle Federal Indian Boarding School to recognize the painful history of similar boarding schools across the nation and will be jointly maintained by the Army and National Park Service. “This collaboration will allow for public access to this important historical site,” said Rachel Jacobson, assistant Army secretary for installations, energy and environment.
