Daniel Driscoll, President Trump’s pick for Army secretary, told lawmakers Thursday that the Army should rely more on technologies that are already developed outside the department, Defense Scoop reported.
“Some capabilities require the Army to undertake independent development, but many of the Army’s most pressing needs: small-unmanned aerial systems, counter-unmanned aerial systems, electronic warfare systems, and communications gear have already been developed,” Driscoll said in written remarks to the Senate Armed Services Committee ahead of his confirmation hearing Thursday.
Driscoll is an Army veteran who served in Iraq. He has also worked in venture capital and private equity.
The tone of Thursday’s hearing makes it seem likely Driscoll will get Senate approval, Military.com noted.
