Ator Takes Helm of Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs

Robert Ator II started the year as secretary of the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs. Ator, a retired colonel, previously served as director of military affairs for the state’s Economic Development Commission of the Arkansas Department of Commerce. A champion of ADC, Ator co-chaired ADC’s State Advisors Council from 2019 to 2023.

“Col Ator is a rare breed: he speaks the language of government, the military, and the private sector, which explains his success in a career that’s touched each of those sectors,” Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-Ark.) said in a press release, calling him “the perfect fit for a job focused on attracting veterans to our state, getting them great jobs once they’re here and supporting their health, education and wellbeing.”
