Kansas Army Base Contributed $2 Billion to Economy in 2024

Fort Riley, Kansas has officially surpassed $2 billion in local economic impact, according to a new impact study. In fiscal year 2024, Fort Riley directly contributed to the economy through salary, contracts, veteran spending and more, The Mercury reported. The base currently has about 13,500 soldiers.

Record Levels of PFAS Found Around New Mexico Base

Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico has recently been reported to have record numbers of PFAS in surrounding wildlife, AP News reported. In both plants and animals, PFAS levels surrounding the local reservoir lake are higher than ever recorded in similar studies. Environmental regulators in the state have warned local hunters to avoid the area to limit their exposure.
