DOD is expected to agree to send 7,800 National Guard members to the D.C. area for the Jan. 20 presidential inauguration, Stars and Stripes reported. The Secret Service has made the request of the Pentagon, but it’s not yet clear from which states the troops would deploy.
The inauguration has been declared a “national special security event” by the Department of Homeland Security.
