Trump Says He May Use Military to Seize Greenland, Panama Canal

January 8, 2025

President-elect Donald Trump continues to say he will take control of the Panama Canal and Greenland for the United States’ security. He refused Tuesday to rule out using the U.S. military to make those goals happen, as AP reported.

“I’m not going to commit to [ruling out military action],” Trump told reporters. “It might be that you’ll have to do something. The Panama Canal is vital to our country. We need Greenland for national security purposes.”
