DOD Reverses Abortion Travel Policy

February 3, 2025

The Pentagon last week did away with the Biden-era policy that reimbursed service members for time and expenses if they had to travel to another state for certain reproductive care, as Military Times reported.

The move was expected.

“President Trump and Secretary Hegseth affirmed today what I’ve been fighting for since I got to Washington: zero taxpayer dollars should go towards abortions,” said Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), the new chair of the Senate Armed Services Personnel Subcommittee. Tuberville who held up hundreds of officer promotions for almost a year over the issue.
