Fort Liberty to Be Re-Named After a Different Bragg

President Trump said during his re-election campaign he would change the name of Fort Liberty, North Carolina back to Fort Bragg. The installation was one of several that got new names because the original names celebrated Confederate leaders.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made good on Trump’s promise Wednesday, ordering that Fort Liberty be reverted to Fort Bragg – but not to honor the Confederate Bragg, Newsmax reported.

“The new name honors the heroic service of Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a World War II veteran awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his extraordinary bravery during the Battle of the Bulge,” Pentagon Press Secretary John Ullyot said. “This decision reflects the installation’s proud history of honoring selfless service and sacrifice in defense of the nation.”
