Air Force Says Preliminary Results Show No Higher Cancer Risk Near Missiles
The Air Force has not found a higher rate of cancer among missileers and other service members who worked for decades near missile sites, Air & Space Forces Magazine reported. The Air Force found a “significantly lower cancer mortality rate in the missile community compared to the non-missile community,” according to Col. Richard Speakman, a medical doctor who commands the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine. The study now enters a new phase that will examine cancer data from state governments.

The Arkansas legislature has killed a bill that would have banned cryptocurrency mining within 30 miles of military installations, Bitcoinist reported. The bill’s supporters said crypto mining near bases could use up too much of the area’s energy resources and invite foreign investors.
Housing Renovations Underway at Kirtland Air Force Base
Hunt Military Communities has completed the first phase of housing renovation for Pershing Park neighborhood at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. The renovation is the first update to the neighborhood since its construction in 1997, and includes redone flooring and shelving, as well as updated plumbing and energy systems. This first phase saw the full renovation of 14 of the 211 homes that will be completed by 2026, Kirtland AFB reported.
