Texas Guard Can Now Make Immigration Arrests

Texas National Guard soldiers now have the authority to make immigration-related arrests and detain and deport undocumented migrants, the Texas Tribune reported. The authority is through an agreement between the state and the Trump administration. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection official will oversee the Guard’s efforts. “This boosts manpower for border security,” Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said in an X post.

N.H. Lawmakers Urge Trump to Change Portsmouth Address

Some New Hampshire state legislators are re-igniting a decades-long debate over which state is home to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Seacoastonline reported. The official location is in Maine, but some New Hampshire lawmakers are asking the Trump administration to change the shipyard’s address to New Hampshire.
