Fort Liberty Opens New Special Forces Training Center

Fort Liberty, North Carolina has finished construction on a new special forces training center known as H.P. Forge. The 90,000-square-foot facility provides a holistic support system for training special forces members, including weight training, an indoor turf field, and a professional team of coaches that will help prepare service members for training courses and combat, Stars and Stripes reported.

D.C. Delegate Calls for Funding for Park Cleanup Initiative

U.S. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) has requested funding from the Trump administration for a cleanup initiative for Fort Totten Park. In 2021, a World War I-era chemical weapons shell was found on the premises, and it remains unclear whether or not similar waste remains at the site. The proposed initiative would pair the Parks Department with the Army Corps of Engineers to identify and clean up any remaining chemical weapons, WTOP News reported.
