Installations Across Country to Hold Immigrants Under New Plan

February 24, 2025

The White House is developing plans to use military installations to hold detained immigrants, The New York Times reported.

Fort Bliss, Texas could become a deportation hub to hold up to 10,000 undocumented immigrants until they can be deported, officials told The Times.

Several other installations are under consideration as the plan expands, including Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado; Hill Air Force Base, Utah; Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida; Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey; Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico; and Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, New York.

The Times reported that the administration is also considering unnamed bases in California, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming.
