Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas) told Military Times that under his leadership, the House Armed Services personnel subcommittee will focus on bringing more young Americans into the military.
“We need access in the high schools. We need ROTC units to be allowed at all colleges,” Fallon said. “If you get access to young people and they realize what the military can do for them, you’re going to get more people to consider it.”
He said he will push for recruitment and retention measures when the committee begins drafting this year’s National Defense Authorization Act in a few weeks.
Fallon is the subcommittee’s new chair. The top Democrat is Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pa.), who worked with Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) on quality of life improvements and a record pay raise that were included in last year’s NDAA.
