Rogers ‘All For’ DOGE Cuts But Says He’ll Speak Up on Cuts He Disagrees With

March 5, 2025

House Armed Services Committee Chair Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) said Tuesday that he doesn’t see a conflict between DOGE efforts to cut defense spending and House Republicans’ support for a $100 billion defense increase over 10 years.

“My view about whatever DOGE is looking at is they’re looking for stupid stuff,” Rogers said, according to Military.com. “And if they find stupid stuff and say we ought to get rid of it, I’m all for it. If they find stuff that they think is stupid and I disagree with, we’re going to have a discussion.”

There is still little detail from the Pentagon about its announced plans to lay off 5,400 civilian workers.
