Caine has been sworn in to the position after receiving Senate confirmation late last week. A formal ceremony is expected to take place this week at the White House.
“Fulfilling [our] responsibility requires an entrepreneurial mindset that drives us to identify opportunities, take calculated risks, fight through adversity and foster innovation across the force, interagency, industry, and with our allies and partners,” he wrote.
Caine’s message also expressed gratitude to military families for their sacrifices.
“It is an honor to serve with each of you and your families,” he wrote.
