Energy consulting firm Converge Strategies released a new report, “Unleashing the Grid: Energy Dominance for National Defense,” at the Defense Communities National Summit in collaboration with ADC.

“Aligning national defense and electricity system expansion requires a substantial shift in the way critical infrastructure in the U.S. is planned, constructed and operated,” Converge’s authors write in the summary.

“Considering that almost every DOD mission depends on the civilian electric grid, we must create onramps to integrate the defense perspective when making decisions about critical electric infrastructure investments,” Wilson Rickerson, co-founder and president of Converge Strategies, said in a press release. Rickerson is one of the authors.

The report is a plan to harness grid reliability in collaboration with defense communities to ensure that critical missions have the resources to be accomplished, regardless of the circumstances.

“National security starts at home, and that includes investments in the critical energy infrastructure that ensures the readiness of our installations and the communities they call home,” said ADC Executive Director Matt Borron.
