Senate Confirms Caine to Lead Joint Chiefs

Dan “Razin” Caine is now leading the Joint Chiefs of Staff after the Senate confirmed his nomination Friday. Caine served in the Air Force and National Guard before working at the CIA, from which he retired in December.

To get the job, the Senate promoted him from the rank of Lt. Gen. and gave him a fourth star.

Even Caine admitted that he, who was relatively unknown, was an unconventional pick to replace Gen. CQ Brown, whom President Trump fired abruptly. Caine told lawmakers during his confirmation hearing that he will not bring politics into the job, as On Base reported.

An NPR story looks deeper at Caine’s career.
