The Senate Tuesday confirmed Elbridge Colby’s nomination to be the Pentagon’s top policy adviser, despite some senators’ concerns about past comments on Russia, as AP reported.
Three Democrats voted for Colby’s nomination in a 54-45 vote. The only Republican to vote against him was Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who said the confirmation “encourages isolationist perversions of peace through strength to continue apace at the highest levels of administration policymaking.”
Colby served as deputy assistant defense secretary for strategy in the first Trump administration.
