Army’s Merged Training Command to Be Based in Austin

May 9, 2025

Among the Army’s planned reforms is merging Army Futures Command with the Training and Doctrine Command. The command will be called the Transformation and Training Command and will be based in Austin, Texas, where Futures Command is currently based, Army Chief of Staff Randy George told lawmakers this week.

He first talked with reporters about the consolidation last week, according to Defense News.

“That way we have one headquarters that can oversee the design, build, doctrine and training,” George told reporters. “We know we have to advance in how we’re going to train individual soldiers right now on the tactical change, how we’re doing things.”

The two commands had been separated during the first Trump administration.
