Iconic ‘Big Guns’ Moved for Highway Construction

Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona’s “Big Guns,” M1 240mm howitzers that mark the entrance to the base, have been moved for the first time since their introduction in 1963 to make way for highway construction. The highway project will add new lanes and is projected to be completed in late 2026, at which point the iconic Big Guns will return to their post, a DVIDS story reports.

Board Rejects Redevelopment Plan for Former California Base
