Army Will Lead New Counter-Drone Task Force, Mingus Says

July 8, 2025

The Army will lead a new interservice counter-drone task force, Task & Purpose reported. The outlet cited Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. James Mingus for making the announcement and saying the military “cannot move fast enough in this space.”

Details are not yet clear on how the interagency organization will operate.

“We need an organization that is joint, interagency, has authorities, a colorless pot of money and the authorities to go after, from requirements all the way through acquisition in a rapid way to be able to keep pace with that. We are in the process of standing that organization up and get it going,” Mingus said.
