The Supreme Court overrode lower court orders Tuesday and paved the way for the Trump administration to drastically downsize the federal government, AP and others reported.
The order also means some federal agencies could be downsized or closed, including the departments of Agriculture, Energy, Labor, the Interior, State, the Treasury and Veterans Affairs. It also applies to the National Science Foundation, Small Business Association, Social Security Administration and Environmental Protection Agency, AP wrote.
Trump Says DOGE Cuts Could Have Been Done Differently
Also on Tuesday, Trump said he would have approached the DOGE-led spending cuts differently from how Elon Musk did.
“You can always second guess,” Trump told reporters during a Cabinet meeting, Politico reported. “I guess some of the people in this room maybe would have done it slightly differently. And some would have done it exactly the way it was done.”
