Missouri Base Hosts Tabletop Exercise on Extreme Weather

Potential severe storms in Missouri was the topic of a Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri tabletop exercise, bringing together local organizations to practice emergency responses to weather disasters. According to a press release from the Meramec Regional Planning Commission, the event brought together law enforcement, local governments, school districts and more to discuss a simulated tornado around the base.

New Mexico Base Forced to Close Lake Due to PFAS

Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico recently had to close Holloman Lake to the public due to dangerously high levels of PFAS. The chemicals came from firefighting foam used in training on the base running off into the water, raising levels to up to 10,000 times higher than the EPA’s drinking water standards, according to The Cool Down.
