The attorney general for the District of Columbia is suing the Trump administration over the deployment of National Guardsmen to Washington, CBS News reported.
“No American city should have the U.S. military — particularly out-of-state military who are not accountable to the residents and untrained in local law enforcement — policing its streets,” D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb said. “It’s D.C. today but could be any other city tomorrow.”
More than 2,000 Guardsmen from D.C. and several states have been patrolling D.C. for weeks. President Trump has said the deployment has helped reduce crime in D.C. and that he may send similar deployments to Chicago, Baltimore and New Orleans.
