California Base Opens New Facility, Doubling Target Capacity 

Navy officials at San Nicolas Island, California recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new facility that doubles the command’s capacity for launching supersonic targets, Seapower reported. The addition of the ground-launched GQM-163A Supersonic Sea Skimming Target provides the ability to better respond to threats and also valuable training to service members who may have to respond to multiple targets at once in a real-world scenario.  

Women Veteran Support Center Opens inAlabama  

Huntsville, Alabama is now home to Huntsville Military Women’s Community Center, a place for women veterans to connect with community resources and others who faced a similar journey, Redstone Rocket reported. The goal for the center, created by Nancy Becher, president and founder of Invisible Warriors, is to coordinate resources for women veterans into one centralized access point, easing the difficulty of navigating the network of services available.
