Texas Announces Military-Friendly Designations for 98 Schools
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) recently announced that 98 schools have been awarded the Purple Star Campus Designation, an honorific that reflects the schools’ efforts to support military families. With the additions, Texas is now home to 640 Purple Star-designated schools.
“The Purple Star Campus Designation program encourages Texas public schools to expand resources and tools available on their campuses to meet the unique educational needs of military-connected students and their families,” Abbott said in a press release. “Texas will continue to support the families of the brave men and women who fought for our country.”
Navy Considers Leasing Pendleton Land for Golden Dome Defense System
The Pentagon has been considering leasing land from Camp Pendleton, California to use for the Golden Dome Defense System, NBC reported. The base’s land is only 25% used, leaving nearly 100,000 acres that could be used to develop the new defense technology. Navy Secretary John Phelan recently visited the site, citing the reason being “possible leasing opportunities by DOD.”
