Corvias Expands Education and Career Support to Six New Installations

The Corvias Foundation recently held their most successful annual fundraiser, bringing in 30 sponsors for the foundation’s mission to support education and career support for military families, they announced in a press release. The success of the event has made the expansion of multiple programs possible, including ‘Opportunity Hubs,” which bring together military families and available resources and will be expanded to six new bases.

Famed Military Academy to Close

The Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pennsylvania will close in May, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The trustees wrote that rising tuition and insurance premiums have made the academy financially “unsustainable.” The boys academy has faced enrollment declines and abuse allegations, according to the report.

The academy opened in 1928. Famous alumni include Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, retired Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster and J.D. Salinger.

Wisconsin Base Aids in Trout Repopulation Efforts

This summer, the Fort McCoy Fisheries Program worked alongside the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to relocate mottled sculpin to a cold-water stream to support native trout population. The mottled sculpin are perfect prey for brook trout, who are being moved to Brook Trout Reserve Streams to recover their population as water temperatures rise too high, an Army story reported.
