Virginia Base Hosts ‘Future Marines’
Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia recently hosted a Future Marine Bootcamp, bringing together kids from six to 14 to learn about life as an active-duty Marine. According to a Marine Corps story, over 100 children attended the camp and participated in physical challenges and learning experience to get them familiar with what service members experience.
“I think that inspiring the future generations of Marines is super important,” said Cpl. Kayli Merritt. “Events like this could be the first time kids experience Marines and servicemembers and it could make a lasting impact on their lives, whether they decide to serve down the line or not.”
McCoy Leaders Report Progress to Local Environmental Group
Delegates from Fort McCoy, Wisconsin recently attended the Monroe County Natural Resource and Extension Committee to share updates from their environmental efforts, according to an Army story. Fort McCoy mentioned multiple updates on the work being done on the base, including monthly water quality sampling and removal of invasive plants, and assisted in locating treatment sites for the Land Rehabilitation and Management Department.
