Pete Hegseth fired Navy chief of staff Jon Harrison over the weekend, ousting the Trump appointee, Military Times reported. An official reported that the firing came because of Harrison attempting to limit the powers of the recently appointed Navy Under Secretary Hung Cao, although the Pentagon has not made any formal statement regarding the reason for his firing.
Harrison worked with Navy Secretary John Phelan to focus on shipbuilding in accordance with the Trump Administration’s goals.
Harrison joins a long list of fired military officials under Hegseth this year, including DOD Inspector General Robert Storch, as On Base reported.
