Maryland Base Finishes Road Construction Months Early

Fort Meade, Maryland managed to complete a road expansion project four months earlier than projected, cutting traffic closure time in half. The project added extra lanes to Reece Road and was projected to be completed in six months while closing only one lane at a time, but by closing the whole road multiple processes were able to be completed at once.

“The community’s cooperation and patience made it possible to reduce what was originally a six-month project to just two months,” said Beki Mitiku, the project manager. “We appreciate the community’s understanding and support throughout this road closure.”

Bullet Donated to Pearl Harbor Memorial Carries Personal History

Former WWII nurse Alice Beck recently donated a bullet to the Pearl Harbor National Memorial which she helped remove from her future husband’s heart on December 7th, 1941, the New York Post reported. Beck, who is now 106, kept the bullet as a memento with his husband until he passed in 1991, and donated it to serve as a reminder of the sacrifices service members make and the resilience they have in face of them.
