South Carolina Redeveloping Former Bases for Housing
The South Carolina legislature recently passed a new law to use tax increment financing for former military sites, incentivizing state reinvestment in the area. The new law will specifically be used to build affordable housing. The change will affect three former bases in the state, Charleston Naval Base, Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, and Savannah River Site, WRDW reported.
Minot Hosts Food Drive for Military Community
Minot, North Dakota is hosting a two-week food drive for military and civilian personnel in the Minot area, Minot Daily News reported. The drive is run through the collaboration between two different organizations, the First Sergeant’s Council and Lord’s Cupboard, and each food and hygiene donation will also be matched with $1 by the Minot Area Community Foundation for food assistance.
