Hegseth Touts New Funding, ‘Revival of Spirit’ in Reagan Forum Remarks

December 9, 2025

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth spoke about anticipated spending increases during a weekend appearance at the Reagan National Defense Forum. During his speech, Hegseth said that the summer’s $156 billion boost from the One Big Beautiful Bill is “only just the beginning.”

“We need a revived defense industrial base. We need those capabilities. We need them yesterday,” Hegseth said. “And so, resource-wise, I think this room will be encouraged by what we’ll see soon. But I don’t want to get too ahead.”

During a Q&A session with Fox News reporter Lucas Tomlinson, Hegseth praised the new “revival of the spirit inside our military,” crediting the Trump administration for an increase in enlistments.
