The House passed the compromise version of the fiscal year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act Wednesday by a bipartisan vote of 312-112.
Among other provisions, the bill:
- Modifies the Defense Community Infrastructure Program, removing “military value” as the qualifying factor for selecting projects, replacing it with “the readiness of a military department or mission assurance at a military installation
- Authorizes a pilot program to reconsider past project applications to see if they qualify under the new wording
- Revises the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation’s Industrial Resilience grant program to broaden the types of projects
- Expands the use of intergovernmental support agreements to include ordnance disposal
The bill is largely focused “on fixing the Pentagon’s broken acquisition process,” Armed Services Committee Chair Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) said on the House floor.
The Senate is expected to consider the NDAA next week.
