DOD Awards Education Grant to North Dakota 

The DOD Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation recently awarded Nathan F. Twining Elementary & Middle School in Grand Forks, North Dakota a $55 million grant for upgrades. The grant is through the Public Schools on Military Installations Program and will serve 500 students at the school through facility upgrades. 

Alabama Base Hosts Students in STEAM Activities 

Maxwell Air Force is home to STARBASE Maxwell, a science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) outreach program, and it recently hosted 5th grade students for a week of hands-on education. According to an Air Force report, the program has hosted over 3,000 students over the past year. STARBASE students get the opportunity to learn technology and programing, including working with the program’s robotic dog.
