Kentucky Group Honored as Innovative Team of the Year 

The Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District was recently named the Innovative Team of the Year for their work on barracks at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The award came from the Army Corps of Engineers Excellence in Contracting Awards Program and honors the work with the VOLAR Barracks project, which will complete renovations in 2027, according to an Army Corps of Engineers report. 

Alaska Base Reopens Fitness Center 

Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska recently reopened Hangar 5, a fitness center for service members. The gym was converted from an aircraft hangar nearly 90 years ago, according to an Army report, and after $5 million in renovation, it reopened for the winter season. The renovations improved the infrastructure around the hangar to make it safer and more modern.
