Private energy company Critical Loop has begun implementing mobile microgrids with defense contractors, with hopes to implement the systems at remote installations, National Defense reported.
The grids can provide 100 megawatts of power and can be flown on a C-17, making it ideal for providing redundancy for island bases in conflict zones in the Pacific. The system is designed to be set up in hours, meaning it can be brought in and utilized quickly in the event of an attack.
Critical Loop has employed its microgrid technology with a defense contractor rocket test facility in California.
