Congress returned to session yesterday with the Department of Homeland Security funding deadline looming at the end of the week. Republicans and Democrats are attempting to negotiate guardrails for ICE, but progress has been slow. 

If lawmakers do not reach a deal this week or buy themselves more time, DHS funding will expire Saturday, including for the Coast Guard. 

“I absolutely would expect that it’s going to shut down,” Sen. John Fetterman (D-Penn.) told Fox News over the weekend.
