New York Base Engages Military Families with Mini Golf
The Fort Drum Exchange in New York recently hosted a miniature golf course in its building, bringing military members and their families to play a few miniature links, according to an Army report. At the event, the family advocacy team at the Exchange shared tips on handling negative feelings, especially during the winter.
Local Students Tour Maryland Base
Local fifth grade students from Patrick Henry K-8 School visited Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to tour the base and see their mission. An Air Force report covered the 46 students, who almost all had never been to a military installation before, as they were shown around and got a first-hand experience.
“There’s so many opportunities out there for our kiddos to really learn and grow, and this field trip connected to that,” said Courtney Angelo, Patrick Henry K-8 School 5th grade teacher. “I think it also bridges a gap in our community; it’s well-known this is a military dense area, but if you’re not involved, you don’t actually know what that means.”
