The Navy recently launched the No Sailor Lives Afloat initiative, supporting housing for sailors when their ships are in port. As of February, 4,500 sailors have transitioned to living at homeports, according to a Navy press release.
“We’re committed to giving every Sailor access to clean, safe and comfortable housing when their ship is in port,” Navy Installations Command Commander Vice Adm. Scott Gray said.
Housing projects have been identified across the country to increase available temporary housing at homeports.
